The Landing Youth Centre

The Landing Youth Centre is a community hub serving vulnerable youth and their families in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods. They provide all-round support, programs, and services to youth and their families while working to eliminate barriers, create safe spaces, and empower youth with a sense of stability.

HEROS Hockey

Hockey Education Reaching Out Society (HEROS) is a volunteer driven charity that uses the game of hockey to teach life-skills and empower marginalized youth. HEROS was founded in the downtown Eastside of Vancouver and provides free programs to youth of all backgrounds from grade four level right up to post-secondary. HFF's funding supports opportunities for youth's personal growth through sport training, educational development, and scholarships guiding participants to become constructive citizens and future community leaders. Since 2000, Heroes Hockey has helped almost 10,000 boys and girls across Canada.

Our Vancouver Story

Kasondra Cohen-Herrendorf was born on December 23, 1986 to Jacqui Cohen and Hershel Herrendorf at BC Women’s hospital. Kasondra grew up in the community of KitsIlano, graduating from Collingwood School. The daughter of two successful and philanthropic beings, Kasondra started her lifelong journey of philanthropy early. At the age of 16, Kasondra embarked on her first philanthropic journey by raising funds for the Kasondra Cohen-Herrendorf endowment fund supporting youth with learning disabilities through the Collingwood Key Program. In 2009, Kasondra created an organization called Face of Today, to empower youth and their communities through education and resources.

Hershel traveled to Vancouver multiple times a year to visit Kasondra, and in the final trip of his life attended a fundraising event with Kasondra, where he graced her with his overwhelming approval of her future path. In 2020, Kasondra welcomed daughter Adyna Clair Herrendorf Rambold-Cohen, the next generation of the Herrendorf Family.

Vancouver is one of the many beautiful places our family is raising our next generation, and in that we hold hope for a stronger future for all youth and their communities. We know Hershel would have loved to have seen the next generations flourish and grow, and we feel he would be proud of the community we are leaving to them.
